Incorporated in 1998, Chip Manufacturing is 100% owned by the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN). Chip Manufacturing specializes in the production of protective industrial knitwear in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
During the 90’s, the ACFN and Suncor Energy Inc. developed a working relationship and together began plans to establish a manufacturing facility in the community of Fort Chipewyan, Alberta.
Today, Chip Manufacturing provides a viable economic opportunity for the community members of Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. Chip Manufacturing started with 3 staff and has now grown to 15 full-time employees.
The wristolet markets has expanded to include other customers who require safety protective clothing within the Wood Buffalo Region, with future plans to market nationally and internationally.
